Emma is back for a flying visit before she and Linda depart from Spain for their week together at a fitness retreat. We haven't seen much of her recently, and it is nice to have her around the house again.
I find myself rather jealous of Linda for having a week away with Emma. There have been the odd mention of perhaps she and I having a trip to, maybe, the Lake District, but I suspect that might not happen. Oddly enough, it seems that as Emma gets older, my role in her life drops more and more away
And such thoughts inevitably lead to a sense of melancholy - which will no doubt continue while they are away.
