Travel to Italy

Hotel Lido, Passignano, Umbria, Italy

After many really early starting flights this year, it is actually quite a luxury to have a slightly later start and be picked up by taxi as well. An uneventful trip with plenty of reading, some sleeping and some music. The car starts ok when we get to Pisa airport (despite four weeks in the long stay car park). The only problem is that the car park doesn't take credit cards, the nearby ATM isn't working and we don't have enough cash. They accept the cash we do have and £10 so that is all ok.

We stayed tonight at the Hotel Lido in Passignano on the shore of Lake Trasimeno in north-west Umbria. I stayed here one night a month or so again and was very impressed. It is exactly the sort of place that Linda and I most like staying at. We have been remindered again about how much we would like to do a trip round Europe just turning up at places to stay rather than having a firm itinerary. Otherwise, it is pretty certain that we would never stay somewhere like Passignano.

One big disappointment is that our plans for week two in Italy are changing. Emma no loner wants to stay that week so it looks like I'll be on my own. I will have to think about what the most positive use of this time would be. For the moment, it is simply a big disappointment.
