Sadly, they seem to have become something of a "euro-pop" band in the 1980s and are still going strong in that guise it would seem. Not my cup of tea at all. Still, one stupendous track is well worth it. You don't get that from everyone

First amazing music track of 2012 - Varttina's Miss'on Miun Armahin
Another random find on a download entitled "Finnish folk music" - the band Varttina. They started as a trad folk band in the late 1970s releasing several albums of finnish music. I have worked my way through the first few so far and the track Miss'on Miun Armahin ("Wherre is my beloved?") is stupendously good I reckon.
