PH400 Revision & Allotment progress

A rough plan of my revision work is beginning to come together. This week is PH400, Philosophy of Science. And today's work started with an outline of the "received view" in P of S versus the "historical turn" of the 1960s onwards. I tend strongly towards the latter, but with a deep commitment to progress (so I remain in a minority of a minority) Also wrote some brief notes on Kuhn - very brief, I don't want any notes to be longer than three pages

In today's FT, Lucy Kellaway's problem page features someone who has just completed a 3 year sabbatical and now needs to find work. How best should he cover this three year period on his CV and how should he project the image of long-term commitment to a new employer - something he clearly doesn't have. The reply is not too homeful. The main thrust is the need for spin. Since I too face this problem in respect of new work, this answer is somewhat mixed. Progress remains slow on the work front but there are, as always, one or two things that might come to something

My breaks from revision take place at the allotment - I have put some blackberries in, cleared the area around the rhubarb plant that has survived the last couple of years with no attention and racked over the new areas that I plan to be working on next. So much to so

The Independent has an article on the crisis facing crofters - post banking crisis, maybe more people will downshift to Syke? Perhaps some people will use the current crisis as a point at which to reflect on their lives and take some radical steps in a new direction - somehow I doubt many will adopt this idea

Sunrise over the "Goose field" (no geese kept there anymore!)

Badger set on the footpath close to our house

The woodland planted last autumn

Grey clouds over the allotment - my shed in the far distance, polytunnel hidden to the right

Current contents of the polytunnel - beans, tomatos, cucumbers, peppers & melons

The people with the front area never seem to actually plant anything - maybe just a trick to some other people having the bit by their house
